Hi friends,
Let’s keep this week’s reason to run a marathon very simple: for the FOOD. For those sweet, delicious extra calories that I’m earning with every step. For the absurd amount of extra Weight Watchers points. More specifically…
…For the pizza. For the pepperoni pizza. For the mushroom pizza. For the sausage pizza. For the meatball pizza. For the meatball subs. For the Italian subs. For the steak and cheese subs. For the spaghetti. For the lasagna. For the penne in cream sauce. For the pad thai. For the drunken noodles. For the spicy string beans. For the bacon. For the eggs. For the eggs Benedict. For the crab benedict. For the muffins. For the omelets. For literally everything on the menu at Soundbites. For the gravy. For the turkey. For the stuffing. For the mashed potatoes. For the honey ham. For the brisket. For the pulled pork. For the ribs. For the barbeque sauce. For the fried pickles. For the hot dogs. For the chili. For the chili dogs. For the chili cheese dogs. For the hamburgers. For the cheeseburgers. For the double bacon cheeseburgers. For the fries. For the sour cream and onion fries. For the sweet potato fries. For the homefries. For the scalloped potatoes. For the poutine. For the fried clams. For the fish and chips. For the clam chowder. For the palak paneer. For the naan. For the chicken korma. For the chicken tikka masala. For the chicken curry. For fried chicken. For the rotisserie chicken. For the chicken fingers. For the chicken parm. For the mac n cheese. For the pumpkin mac n cheese. For the truffle mac n cheese. For the extra truffle butter bacon mac n cheese. For the sausage and peppers. For the baked potatoes. For the burritos. For the enchiladas. For the rice and beans. For the tortilla chips. For the popcorn. For the fried rice. For the lo mein. For the spring rolls. For the spicy tuna maki. For the spicy scallop sushi. For the tempura. For the oysters. For the po’boys. For the jambalaya. For the meatloaf. For the goat stew. For literally everything on the Highland Kitchen menu. For the Skittles. For the Air Heads (you are what you eat). For the Girl Scout cookies. For the pie. For the lemon meringue pie. For the pumpkin pie. For the (world’s best) pecan pie. For the apple pie. For the key lime pie. For the CHOCOLATE. For the chocolate bunnies. For the chocolate eggs. For the milk chocolate. For the dark chocolate. For the white chocolate. For the truffles. For ALL OF IT.
Ahem.
I think I'm done.
This week’s training was tough. Tough, tough, tough. I think I had it in my head that I knew what to expect from 18 – the 16 I ran a few weeks ago were fairly easy to be honest -but this week was much worse. Around mile 13 I realized I was already running out of gas and starting to deal with pain in my hips, ankles and knees (not to mention chaffing where GOD DID NOT INTEND THINGS TO CHAFFE and before anyone says anything YES I was wearing body glide); I have no idea how I finished (I swear I blacked out for most of miles 16 and 17) but it is DONE. I plan to take it easy this week and let my body heal a bit. This marathon training thing is not easy, turns out! ;)
Fundraising update: THANK YOU THANK YOU to a few wonderful donors who came out to donate this week!!! It was truly a banner week, and am now at 44% of my goal. Both I and the Mass General pediatric hematology/oncology patients thank you from the bottom of our hearts; I get emotional just thinking about the programs that this money will help to fund. For all my wonderful donors, I send you virtual hugs!!
Until next week,
Meg
